On Saturday, June 21, chemical engineer (Dipl. Ing.) Wolfgang Fröhlich, 51, was arrested in Vienna, Austria, and taken to prison. His trial could last two days, as the public prosecutor wishes, or as long as two or three weeks, as his attorney, Dr. Herbert Schaller, hopes.

For seven years, Fröhlich had sent to jurists, members of parliament, politicians and journalists, thousands of copies of his writings, in which he says that the alleged wartime Nazi extermination gas chambers are, as he put it, a lie. Remarkably, he suffered no real legal consequences. Then, following the publication in 2001 of his 368-page file, Die Gaskammer Lüge (“The Gas Chamber Lie”), the authorities decided to arrest him. But he went into hiding, and the police apparently made no serious effort to find him.

Fröhlich’s arrest on June 21 may, perhaps, be connected with a statement in Vienna two days earlier by Rudolph Giuliani. On June 19 the former mayor of New York, speaking as a US government representative, told participants at a two-day Conference on Anti-Semitism, organized in Vienna by the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE), that Revisionism should be stopped. In an article published a day earlier in The New York Times, “How Europe Can Stop the Hate,” he said, referring to officials of the European states: “Making sure their citizens have an honest understanding of the Holocaust is vital, as revisionist viewpoints put us at risk of a repetition of race-based genocide.” On June 16 and 17, President George W. Bush criticized “revisionist history” and “revisionist historians” for expressing doubts about the official version of the US war against Iraq.

In a way, Ernst Zündel and Wolfgang Fröhlich may be the first revisionist victims of Bush and Giuliani.

February 6, 2003 - Good Morning from the Zündelsite [published by Ingrid Rimland]: Ernst Zündel was arrested yesterday, allegedly on an immigration violations matter. In a nutshell, he was told that he had missed showing up at a scheduled immigration hearing in May of 2001.

Ernst asked if he could call his lawyer. He was told that he could not.
I asked if I could call a lawyer, and I was told that I could not.
The demeanor of the men, I felt, was threatening. Ernst said he wanted to read the document he was to sign, and was told the men did not have all day.
Nonetheless, he read it very carefully, then told them that he never received a request for a hearing. ... [goon squads in the USA - welcome to a free country, Ernst!]

On Monday morning, January 13 [2003], Gaston-Armand Amaudruz was jailed in Switzerland for having expressed doubts about the existence of homicidal gas chambers in World War II German concentration camps, and for saying that he did not believe the figure of six million wartime Jewish dead. Complying with a summons, the publicist and retired teacher, who is 82 and in poor health, presented himself to the special “high security” penitentiary at l’Orbe, about 20 kilometers north of Lausanne. He is to be held there for three months. In addition, there are fines and court and legal expenses.

...the tabloid Bild has called for recognition to be given to the suffering inflicted on the German population during the strategic air campaign of 1940-45.

The newspaper's campaign, provoked by a new German history of the bomber offensive, breaks six decades of virtual silence on the subject, and is being seen as the latest manifestation of a belief among Germans that they too were victims of the war - albeit a war started by their country.

The newspaper is serialising Der Brand (The Fire: Germany Under Bombardment 1940-45) by the historian Jörg Friedrich, which claims to be the most authoritative account of the bombing campaign so far.

Mr Friedrich claims the British government set out at the start of the Second World War to destroy as many German cities and kill as many of their inhabitants as possible. Civilian deaths were not collateral damage, he says, but rather the object of the exercise. He argues that Churchill had favoured a strategy of attacking the civilian population centres from the air some 20 years before Hitler ordered such raids.

Britain's war leader is quoted during the First World War as saying: "Perhaps the next time round the way to do it will be to kill women, children and the civilian population."

...For the past year Germans on both the Left and Right have been locked in a new and intense debate about the war and their role as its victims as well as perpetrators. The debate was sparked by Günther Grass, the Nobel prize winner, in a novel fictionalising the wartime account of a passenger ship [Wilhelm Gustlof] torpedoed by the Soviet navy killing thousands of Germans on board.

Fritjof Meyer, a leading editor of Der Spiegel, quietly abandons Krema II at Auschwitz as a gas chamber, saying -- on the basis of Pelt's latest research finds -- that it was never used, and only being prepared for possible use as one (yeah, right); until now, it was claimed that a million souls perished in that underground mortuary, with cyanide dropped through holes in the roof...

Now Meyer writes that all the killings, such as they were, were done off site in the two "bunkers" (i.e. the converted peasant cottages of which the Auschwitz officials Aumeier and Höss both talked, and which I freely agreed at the trial may have been used on a modest scale for gassings). That is, unless I have read the paper completely wrongly. Meyer also cuts the number killed there from 4,000,000 to not much over 300,000, which is close to what the Kraków Trial found in 1947. In delicious vignettes, Meyer reveals too that

• until the Soviet collapse in 1989 Auschwitz staff were promised instant dismissal if they publicly doubted the figures: but he himself still goes on to quote as an authority the very Auschwitz official, Franciszek Piper, a communist (and Jewish) "historian", who issued the threats of dismissal; and that
• my old enemy and rival, the late Martin Broszat, quietly deleted from his "scientific" publication of the Rudolf Höss memoirs all the blatantly phoney figures which might otherwise have aroused scepticism.

...I alert Mark Weber at the IHR to the posting, and he replies overnight: "This is terrific -- amazing even. We are all in your debt for scanning and posting this latest revisionist breakthrough."

I agree. Another breakthrough. The Battleship Auschwitz is still sinking after all -- if it has not been sitting, just upright, on the sandy bottom ever since 1988, already mortally torpedoed by Fred Leuchter...

NANTES University's scientific council has condemned the awarding of an honorary doctorate to a French agricultural engineer [Henri Rocques] for a thesis claiming that the Nazi gas chambers may not have existed. Jewish Chronicle

M. Henri Rocques, who caused a public outcry with the submission of his doctoral thesis questioning the existence of the Nazi gas extermination chambers, is to be stripped of his doctorate. The professor who recommended the award will be suspended from his post. The Times (London)

Dr. Fredrick Töben, Director of Australia's Adelaide Institute, who organized the successful 1998 revisionist conference there, was arrested in Germany on 8 April 1999, on a charge of "defaming the memory of the dead" and sent to Mannheim prison. The revised arrest warrant of 3 May listed the following charges, based mainly on the Adelaide Institute's English language website in Australia, but also secondarily on the printed Adelaide Institute newsletter, which has a tiny circulation in Germany:

• In a way disturbing the public peace, inciting hatred against, and insulting, a portion of the population.
• Denying the truth of a factual event perpetrated under the National Socialist regime, in a manner to disturb the public peace.
• Insulting others.
• Defaming the memory of the dead.

Töben's trial opened on 8 November 1999 and only lasted two days. On the first day Töben's defense lawyer Ludwig Bock resigned in protest at the illegality of the trial, but the court ordered Bock to remain on as court appointed defense counsel. Bock and Töben both vowed to remain silent throughout the trial. Bock said prosecutor Hans Heiko Klein had threatened him with jail for having publicly stated that his client had been wrongfully arrested and imprisoned...

On the second day of the trial (10 November) the court ruled that Töben was guilty in connection with the printed newsletter, but could not be tried in a German court for the content of his web site in Australia [1]. He was sentenced to ten months imprisonment. Having already served seven months he was granted parole on payment of DM6000 ($3165) bail and released on 11 November. Prosecutor Klein vowed to appeal the court's ruling in relation to the Internet material originating in Australia. A short story on the conclusion of the trial appeared in the New York Times of 11 November. More details were reported in the Australian daily newspapers The Age (Melbourne, www.theage.com.au) and the Sydney Morning Herald (www.smh.com.au) on 11-13 November.

German teacher Hans Hans-Juergen Witzsch sentenced to 3 months in prison for expressing doubts about the stock Holocaust story in a personal letter to an historian (who ratted him out to the government).

...And for what is this hardy ex-teacher Witzsch now sentenced to three (in fact seven) months in jail? For saying there is no proof that Hitler ordered the Holocaust. For doubting the Auschwitz gas chambers. And for expressing scepticism about the Six Million figure -- in a letter to a historian on the subject, a Jew, Michael Wolffsson, whose contribution to scientific advance is to turn the letter over to Germany's modern state police authority.

in 1943 the Nazis tried to surrender. At the time, Earle was Naval Attache in Istanbul when he was approached personally by Admiral Wilhelm Canaris, head of the German Secret Service. Canaris told him that the German generals felt Hitler was leading Germany to destruction. They could not accept Roosevelt's policy of "unconditional surrender," but if FDR would offer "honorable surrender," the army was prepared to stage a coup d'etat. They believed that Russia represented a threat to Western Civilization and they were ready to present a non-Nazi German bulwark against Communist designs in Eastern Europe.

To make a long story short, FDR repeatedly ignored this proposal which could have ended the war in 1943 and saved millions of lives. Canaris and hundreds of other decent German officers were tortured and killed by the gestapo.
